Screen design for European Parliament Visitor Center “Parliamentarium”

I am so excited. After working for three years on the interactive screen designs at Markenfilm Crossing, the visitor center has finally opened.

I designed all the touch screen stations as well as the mobile guide, a customized iPod Touch, following the CI guidelines created by Atelier Brückner in Stuttgart. My in-depth knowledge about vision and accessibility were a tremendous asset to make the screens not only visually engaging but also user-friendly for visitors of all ages.

Markenfilm’s Parlamentarium microsite was also designed by me. You can also watch the video and more images there.

Schüco Multitouch Table

Schüco is a worldwide leader for energy-efficient buildings. For their 2011 exhibit at the world’s largest trade fair for architecture BAU in Munich, they needed a concept, design and execution for a four panel multitouch table. With just a few weeks left until the start of the fair.

The purpose of the multitouch table was to provide visitors detailed information and engaging videos of the Schüco Energy3 Building. Since the four screens of the large table were not digitally connected, the design had to work as a whole as well as individually for each segment of the table.

The solution was a large image of the building as the background with hotspots located in a way that each table had several to choose from. Once the user selected on hotspot matching a feature of the building, he was able to flip through all of the other hotspot features within his panel. The panel was movable and scalable.

Multimedia Guide for European Parliament Visitors

The assignment was to create a multimedia guide in all 23 official languages of the EU, using a customized iPod Touch. This was to replace the old audio guides which were available in only the main languages.

The interface had to be intuitive and easy to use, since many visitors are not familiar with touch screen devices. The new audio guide offers slide shows, videos and in-depth information such as information on all 736 members of parliament.
